It was Christmas Eve, and Jim looked at his pregnant wife, sitting on their couch, trying to balance a mug of hot chocolate on her stomach.

He leaned against the doorway, just watching her.

He couldn't help but remember all of the times he had dreamed of moments like this. All of the Christmas Eves he went to bed wishing Pam was in his arms instead of Roy's. And all of the Christmas mornings he woke up praying for a Christmas miracle - praying that Pam would magically be beside when he opened his eyes.

Now they were married. She was having their baby. He got to hold her every night when they went to bed, and wake up to her beautiful face every morning. But, their routine never got boring. At least not for him.

Every night, when she crawled into bed next to him, his heart missed a beat. And every time she gently kissed him good morning, the same sense of euphoria that overcame him the first time he kissed her, filled his body once again.

And every time she told him she loved him, he couldn't help but remember the billion times he had wanted to tell her the same thing, but hadn't been able to. Because of Roy, because of Karen - because it's creepy to tell someone you've known for about an hour that you're in love with them. So every time she uttered those three simple words, he was reminded of how lucky he is. He had married the woman of his dreams. And he knows that he'll never take the way she looks at him, or the way she steals the blankets every night, or the way her eyes light up when they're planning one of their pranks, for granted.

Having finally given up on getting her hot chocolate to balance on her stomach for more than a few seconds, Pam's eyes wandered around the room, wondering where her husband was. Finally, she found him leaning against the open doorway that led from the kitchen to the living room. She patted the cushion next to her, signaling that she wanted Jim to sit down next to her.

So, Jim made his way to their couch, in their home, and sat down next to his wife, putting one of his arms around her shoulders and pressing his lips to her temple for a good 30 seconds.

"I love you," he said quietly, finally breaking away. Pam put her hot chocolate on the coffee table before turning her body slightly so she could look Jim directly in the eyes. He tilted his head down as she brought hers forwards, and their lips made brief contact before Pam pulled back away and brought her hand up to graze the side of his face.

"I love you too." Jim leaned in and kissed her again, their lips connecting for seconds, then minutes, then what could have been hours.

No, Jim thought, I'll never get tired of this.

And he knew that his wish this Christmas had already come true.
